Cory M. Whitlock, currently serves as a Battalion Chief in Reno. In addition to being newly elected as the Secretary-Treasurer of the PFFN, Cory contributed six years as a District Vice President and has served his union in several leadership roles since 2006.

As secretary-treasurer, Cory is tasked with record-keeping, conducting correspondence pertaining to the office, storing historical documents, maintaining information of common interest to the Local affiliates, and serving as the custodian of the official PFFN seal. He handles the revenue and expenses of three separate business accounts as the treasurer for PFFN. Aside from administering the general accounts and business of the PFFN, Cory provides oversight for the funding of the Nevada Firefighter Memorial, represents the benevolent association, and administers funds for the PFFN PAC.

Before earning the position of Battalion Chief, Cory worked as a Fire Captain for Las Vegas Fire and Rescue on Truck 1 Downtown. He also worked as a firefighter/paramedic for Las Vegas and Storey County Fire Protection District. Cory has also served as a community college professor at Truckee Meadows Community College. During this time, he specialized in emergency medical services, managed online classes, and led the paramedic programs.

Cory studied at the Truckee Meadows Community College and earned his associate degree in Fire Science Technology in Reno, Nevada. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Health Science from the University of Washington. After earning both degrees, Cory continued his education and received his Physician Assistant accreditation from the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Cory’s priority is to be a public servant and firefighter for communities throughout Nevada. With the assistance and support of the members of his department, he seeks to promote community safety by protecting life, preventing loss, and providing support and relief to those in need.

Cory currently resides in Reno, Nevada with his beautiful wife, Savannah and gorgeous daughter Sunny. When he is not working, Cory enjoys outdoor sports such as biking, hiking, wakeboarding, camping, and skiing.
