Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada
Ryan Whitlock, northern district vice president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada, has nearly 20 years of experience in the fire service. As district vice president, Ryan’s responsibilities are to assist the presidents of affiliate Locals in northern Nevada and ensure the Locals comply with their governing rules.
Ryan began his career with the U.S. Air National Guard in 2002, where he served as a firefighter for six years. In 2006, he was hired as a firefighter for the Storey County Fire Department, working for the department until 2013.
Currently, Ryan is fire captain and paramedic with Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue. In addition to his duties as a captain, he represents the Truckee Meadows Fire Local 2487, as secretary. Ryan is also a member of the Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue Hazardous Materials Team and a member of the Swift Water Rescue Team.
Ryan studied at Fort Lewis College and is presently continuing his education at Truckee Meadows Community College, pursuing degrees in fire science and pre-hospital management.
Along with fulfilling his duties within the Local and PFFN, Ryan is also an active member of the Negotiations Committee, the Workman Compensation Committee, the Grievance Committee, and the Best Practice and Policy Committee for Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.
Ryan is a native to northern Nevada and currently lives in Reno. In his free time, he enjoys riding his dirt bike, hunting, fishing, staying active, and spending time with his wife, Aleise, and children, Gage and Abby. Ryan can also be found on the baseball diamond, serving as a Washoe Little League baseball coach.
