Firefighter George Fay, 50, president of the Minden Fire Department, passed away May 7, 1930. He was one of the firefighting crew called out when an electrical wire had dropped from a building, starting a small fire in the yard. George grabbed a bucket and was in the act of putting out the small fire when the second wire of the electrical line fell and struck him on top of the head and was electrocuted. He was a native of Carson Valley and was born August 4, 1880. He served as president of the Minden Rotary Club and represented the lower house of the Nevada Legislature.
