Ronald B. Irwin

Fire Chief Ron Irwin started his career in 1962 as a Firefighter. Before he officially started with the department, he served as a volunteer for many years during the time his father, John Irwing, was a chief officer for Sparks Fire Department and wanted to follow in his footsteps. Chief Irwin rose through the ranks quickly and was promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief officer in 1972. He remained as a Battalion Chief until his promotion in 1990. He served for several years as a Board of Trustee member for the Nevada Fire Chiefs and was instrumental when maintaining the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association by -laws and Secretary of State annual filings.
