William D. Sorenson

William Sorensen worked in private business from 1954 until his employment with the Las Vegas Fire Department in 1957. William worked for the LVFD from 1957 until his retirement in 1992. During his time with the fire department, he served in numerous positions, including assistant chief of the department. William D. Sorensen was born in La Point, Utah. He moved with his parents shortly after birth to Las Vegas, Nevada and lived there for sixty years after that.

He attended public school system in Las Vegas graduating from Las Vegas High School in 1949. He then attended Bringham Young University from 1949 to 1952. After college he joined the United States Army in 1952. He attended Leadership School in 1953 and then served combat duty in Korea in 1953. He was given an Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1954.

He married his wife Mary Ann and together they have 7 children, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
